Once upon a time, I loved taking photos. I still do, yet somehow I slowly forgot all about it. Up until now. A few months ago I got a Canon photoprinter, the Selphy CP910, and today I finally sat down and installed that tiny black box. Well, kinda. Imagine my disappointment when (after inserting the ink cartridge and photo paper) a message popped up telling me installment wouldn’t be possible. Come again? I googled the error, and got hopeful when some forum gave the advice to look up the needed drivers/software on the Canon site. Now imagine my face when that site simply told me that there weren’t any for the software I selected (OS X Yosemite v10.10).
The manual wasn’t any help either (completely useless really), since it only tells you how to check and insert the ink and basics, not how to actually install and possibly use the printer through oh, I don’t know: wireless acces. At that point I was pretty annoyed. Until I noticed you can connect directly to the printer using your mobile phone and a free Canon app. Tried it out, and hallelujah: it works. I can now print photos directly from my phone. Problem solved.
Other than that: I’m very happy with it. Great quality, very little change in color and easy to use. I printed 9 shots I took over the years, and I’m very pleased with the result. I’m looking forward to dusting off my camera and taking some new pics now that I can print them so easily. Oh, and I like how small and “basic” the Selphy looks. No bullshit, just a simple and plain design. By the way, you can also print photos by directly inserting your memory card or USB.

I’ll check later on whether I can make the same direct connection on my laptop (should be possible), but I probably won’t be able to print yet, since I don’t have a system to run it. Maybe I can find a way to install the app on my laptop. Would be ideal.
