Photography. Exotic. Beauty. Color. If you’re automatically interested when reading one of those words, then you should definitely check out “Arcadia“, a new photographic series by Billy Billay. Keen to find an interaction between model and animal (and thus giving the animal a leading role instead of merely using it as an “accessory”), Billy created a series that is different and interesting. Her photographs ooze tropical spheres and nature in its most creative color palette.
I’ve been given the opportunity to shadow Billy while she was working on her project, and I love her way of thinking. I have never met a more kind and down-to-earth person. Everyone on her team is treated with respect and appreciation. If a model wasn’t comfortable, she’d understand and allow her to find her own balance. Instead of going for classic black and white frames or an excessive use of photoshop, this girl likes to keep it simple. Natural light, an optimal usage of surroundings (matching the styling to the location and animals), and most importantly: unforced poses.
